“The Believers in Christ” describes the origins and also the spread of the Nazareans to the areas of former Yugoslavia (now Serbia), as the first Protestant/Evangelical community there. It focuses mainly on the time period from 1918 to 1941, and includes insight even up to the year 1991. It describes the history of the Nazarean denomination, and its beliefs and practices. It also explains the unfavorable position of the State and Orthodox church toward Nazarean believers. The author, Branko Bjelajac writes: “In the nearly two centuries since their emergence, and the emergence of the modern state of Serbia, the Nazarean movement has been the most persecuted religious community in this region”.
